Our Village. Our Environment. Our Future.

Founded on World Clean Up Day 2018, SBCA is a member-supported organization focused on environmental sustainability, waste management and community development in Selong Belanak, Lombok, Indonesia.

Through waste bins, volunteer clean-ups, student education and village outreach, SBCA is committed to creating a cleaner, healthier community.

But most of all, SBCA hopes for Selong Belanak to become once again waste free, so the next generation of children are able to enjoy a sustainable environment, just as their grandparents did.

Purchase or Sponsor a Bin

Our management system ensures that no SBCA-collected waste ends up in landfill, oceans, rivers or burned.

To participate, individuals or businesses purchase or sponsor an SBCA bin for their business, home or location in need, then pay a monthly fee for collection, oversight of the waste system and bin cleaning.

Join Weekly Beach Clean-Ups

Every Saturday morning at 8 a.m., the SBCA team, local community members and, even visiting tourists gather beachside at Laut Biru Bar & Restaurant to help keep Selong Belanak Beach clean and beautiful! It’s a fun-in-the-sun way to help support a great area.

Support Community Education & Outreach

In addition to member financial support, the SBCA was also recently awarded funds from the Australian Consulate in Bali via their Direct Aid Program (DAP). We received these one-off funds for specific activities including:

• To compile, produce and disseminate materials to raise awareness and understanding of waste and its impact in both the adult and child population within the Selong Belanak area;

• To educate both the adult and child population of the health and hygiene issues related to waste;

• To support the establishment of a “Trash Hero” branch in Selong Belanak;

• To facilitate community and extra curricular activities related to waste and waste management;

• To develop advocacy materials to support lobbying

[The SBCA team is currently engaged in these activities and we’re always looking for more volunteers. Let us know if you’d like to help!]
